Facilitating Radical Change in the
Ugandan Education System

OUR FOCUS

Do It Yourself Clubs

Our vision is to create an engaging, holistic, safe and inclusive educational environment for every student. To this end, we work with students and teachers to build lifeskills and agency, increase meaningful youth participation, and shift school power dynamics.

Under DIY, students get a chance to grapple with complex and challenging real-world situations and work as a team to realize a common goal. We currently work in 30 secondary schools, directly engaging over 3,000 students and 150 teachers each year.

NEW INITIATIVE

Mental Health

In response to the trauma caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we created the Resilience Project. With training and guidance from our technical assistance partner Strong Minds Uganda, we run Interpersonal Group Psychotherapy sessions in DIY schools. This mental health work complements the DIY Clubs and is another avenue by which we are creating safer, more engaging, and more equal school environments.
